Friends are like old wine

On the occasion of Friendship Day and Friendship week, I'd like to write a little note about the friends in my life who made a difference (good and bad).

Life is a roller coaster ride. One comes across unexpected places, unexpected situations, unexpected people, and lot of unexpected things. Just like the famous saying goes, "Expect the unexpected". A lot of people often come into your lives, could be friends, friends of friends, relatives, or even foes. But you are your own life's master. You have the choice to pick those who can stay, and those who have to leave. Be wise in making your choice.

Friends and friendship is compared with hundreds of metaphors...like old wine, pearls, jewels, mirror...and so on. Indeed its considered a Priceless Treasured Possession that one can hold for life. But how many of your friends can be classified as Priceless Treasured Possessions? I guess not many. Such can be easily counted on our finger tips.

Trust, companionship, freewill, goodwill and personal frequency level are the most important aspects which would judge a good friend from a bad one. Hence you should be very careful in picking the good ones from the lot, like how most housewives do, when they go for their weekly veggi shopping ;)

Just like everyone, I too have come across so many peculiar characterized friends. I'm sure I would also sound peculiar to someone else as a friend. The best and the worst kinds. It's tough to have a straight face with the worst kinds, but you are bound to be your-self when with the best ones. That is the beauty of true friendship! It is definitely rare to find a friend who meets all your expectations. Ofcourse, a friend is not a life-partner. But a life-partner can always be your best friend for life. I think that is the level of friendship I would like to share with my special someone.

As far as I am concerned, being a woman, I actually hate being in the company of female friends. They are just not my type of friends at all. Gossiping, back-biting, jealousy, evil-minded :(. I'd prefer male friends better, because it is fun, they sort of match my taste, they don't think cheap in the terms I mentioned earlier, and by far will promptly turn up for you when you're in trouble. When friendship between opposite sexes is pure, without love or lust, it is the best friendship both can enjoy. But beware to keep this sort of friendship clear and clutter-less. That will preserve the beauty of such an intimate yet transparent relationship.

On this lovely occasion when the whole world celebrates friends and friendship, I too would love to wish each and everyone out there....
