Is being solitary happy / sad?

This is a very common question which strikes my mind quiet often. When I'm really low or after a bad day at work, a horrible weekend... or you know the usual tu tu main main between me and ___... I always end up wanting to be alone for the rest of my life. No one to question and no one to be answerable to, except me.
This is my little turtle at home. He's lived a solitary life since we rescued him from a well in Kerala and got him to Bangalore about 5 years ago.
He now stays in a little pond which Anish built in our garden . We never thought of naming it because it hardly interacts with us. We don't even know if its a male or female ;)

Look at the claws and the tiny tail.

He's very strong. Size doesn't matter at all.

Its a really tiny one to say. I haven't seen much growth in the past 5 years.

We give our turtle and its home a cleaning once or twice a month.

Last weekend we'd taken it out for a cleaning and our little man wants to run around everywhere...

Just look how naughty it can get.

The minute we left him alone, he quickly took out his legs and neck from his shell and started running to hide.

Finally after a brushing and bath, its now back to its crystal clear home. It shines mm hmm.. And
I think its happy :)
I wish I was solitary too. No jhig jhig or khit pit of family or friends. No pressure. A free life!
