Mother Nature has hidden a tremendous amount of treasures and secrets within herself. Answers to some of Nature's mysteries still remain unanswered.
Hindu mythology refers to this divine flower as the throne of Lord Brahma. Lord Brahma is referred to as the creator of the Universe. Hence "Brahma" refers to the name of this Hindu Deity and "Kamala" means Lotus or water Lilly. That's a little background about how the beautiful flower gets its name "Brahma Kamala".
My mother loves gardening and she's very good at her gardening skills. This year her gardening skills paid off with a huge reward of more than 50 Brahma Kamala buds blooming in our garden. It takes a lot of patience to wait for the buds to slowly open up after 7 PM.
The buds start showing up on the plant for over a couple of weeks. But the actual glory of the fully bloomed flower is only for a couple of hours in the night. This is one of Nature's true miracles. These beauties start opening with a faint fragrance which gets stronger as the night advances and fills the entire place with a heavenly scent. It is a sheer bliss. to see them bloom. This year I managed to catch it on camera.
Have a look..... There were 60 all together :)
I couldn't capture all 60 together because they bloomed in batches over 3 days

The most fun part is the bud's Life cycle... But the sad part is that by the time we all got up the next morning after all the excitement about the Brahma Kamalas last night, this was the condition.
I will add lots more of my mum's garden treats in my future posts... but for now, this is the greatest treat of all... Way to go Mommy!!!
